Copyright Infringement & DMCA Policy
Last Updated: 30 August 2026
Romiley Pets Pantry respects the intellectual property and copyright rights of creators, businesses, photographers, manufacturers, publishers, and other rights holders.
This Copyright Infringement & DMCA Policy explains how copyright concerns relating to material available through RomileyPetsPantry.co.uk may be reported and how we may respond to such reports.
As a business based in the United Kingdom, we handle copyright matters primarily in accordance with applicable UK copyright law. Where the United States Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) or a similar notice-and-takedown procedure is applicable to particular content, services, hosting arrangements, or service providers, the relevant procedures described below may also apply.
Use of our website is also subject to our Terms of Service.
1. Our Approach to Copyright
We aim to use photographs, written content, graphics, product information, branding, and other materials only where we have an appropriate right or lawful basis to do so.
Some content displayed on our website may be:
-
Created or owned by Romiley Pets Pantry
-
Licensed to us
-
Supplied by product manufacturers or distributors
-
Provided by third-party service providers
-
Used with permission
-
Used where otherwise permitted by applicable law
Third-party trade marks, brand names, product photographs, logos, and other intellectual property remain the property of their respective owners.
2. Reporting Suspected Copyright Infringement
If you believe that material available through our website infringes copyright owned by you, or by a person or organisation you are authorised to represent, please send us a written copyright infringement notice.
Your notice should contain enough information for us to understand and investigate the complaint.
Please include:
-
Your full name
-
The name of the copyright owner, if different from your own
-
Your email address
-
Your postal address
-
Your telephone number, where appropriate
-
A clear description of the copyrighted work that you believe has been infringed
-
The location of the allegedly infringing material on our website, preferably including the exact page or URL
-
An explanation of why you believe the use is unauthorised
-
Information demonstrating that you are the copyright owner or are authorised to act for the copyright owner
-
A statement confirming that the information in your complaint is accurate to the best of your knowledge
-
Your physical or electronic signature
Where multiple copyrighted works are involved, you may provide a representative list together with sufficient information for us to identify the relevant material.

Providing complete information will help us review the complaint more efficiently.
4. How We May Respond to a Copyright Complaint
When we receive a sufficiently detailed copyright complaint, we may review:
-
The material identified in the notice
-
The rights claimed by the complainant
-
The source of the material
-
Any relevant licence or permission
-
Applicable copyright exceptions or limitations
-
Information provided by the person responsible for the material
-
Applicable UK or other relevant law
Where appropriate, we may:
-
Request further information from the complainant
-
Contact the person or organisation that supplied the material
-
Temporarily restrict access to disputed material
-
Remove material from the website
-
Replace or modify content
-
Decline to remove material where we reasonably determine that the complaint is unsupported or where use is otherwise permitted
-
Refer the matter to a relevant third-party platform, hosting provider, or professional adviser
Submitting a complaint does not automatically mean that the material will be removed.
We will aim to consider complaints reasonably and in good faith.
5. DMCA Notices Where Applicable
The Digital Millennium Copyright Act is a law of the United States.
A formal DMCA notice-and-takedown process will therefore apply only where the DMCA is legally relevant to the particular website service, content, hosting arrangement, or online service provider involved.
Where a valid DMCA notice is required, the notice should generally include:
-
A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorised to act on their behalf
-
Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed, or a representative list where multiple works are involved
-
Identification of the allegedly infringing material and sufficient information to allow the material to be located
-
Contact information for the complaining party
-
A statement that the complaining party has a good-faith belief that the disputed use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law
-
A statement that the information in the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury where required by the DMCA, that the complaining party is authorised to act on behalf of the copyright owner
Additional requirements may apply depending on the relevant service provider.
6. Removal or Restriction of Content
Where we reasonably believe that material available through our website may infringe copyright, we reserve the right to take appropriate action.
This may include:
-
Removing the disputed material
-
Disabling access to the material
-
Temporarily suspending the material while a complaint is investigated
-
Requesting evidence of ownership or permission
-
Contacting the party that supplied the content
-
Replacing content with appropriately licensed or original material
We may take such action without prior notice where reasonably necessary to protect intellectual property rights or comply with a legal requirement.
7. Challenging a Removal
If material associated with you has been removed or restricted following a copyright complaint and you believe that the action resulted from a mistake, misidentification, valid licence, permission, or another lawful basis, you may contact us and provide information supporting your position.
Please include:
-
Your full name
-
Your contact information
-
Identification of the removed or restricted material
-
The location where the material previously appeared
-
An explanation of why you believe the material should not have been removed
-
Evidence of any relevant permission, licence, ownership, or lawful right to use the material
-
Your physical or electronic signature
We may provide appropriate information relating to the dispute to the original complainant where necessary to review or resolve the matter and where permitted by applicable law.
8. DMCA Counter-Notifications Where Applicable
Where content has been removed through a formal process governed by section 512 of the US DMCA, an eligible person may be able to submit a formal counter-notification.
A DMCA counter-notification generally needs to include:
-
A physical or electronic signature
-
Identification of the material that was removed or disabled
-
Identification of where that material appeared before removal
-
A statement under penalty of perjury that there is a good-faith belief that the material was removed or disabled because of mistake or misidentification
-
The person's name, address, and telephone number
-
The jurisdictional and service-of-process statements required by applicable US law
For a person located outside the United States, the DMCA jurisdictional statement does not simply require consent to the courts of England and Wales. The applicable US statutory requirements must instead be followed.
A person submitting a formal DMCA counter-notification should therefore ensure that the notice contains all information required under applicable US law.
9. Restoration Following a DMCA Counter-Notification
Where the formal DMCA counter-notification procedure legally applies, a qualifying service provider may restore removed material after receiving a valid counter-notification in accordance with the statutory procedure.
Under the applicable DMCA process, restoration generally occurs not less than 10 and not more than 14 business days after receipt of a compliant counter-notification unless the original complaining party provides appropriate notice that legal proceedings have been commenced to restrain the allegedly infringing activity.
This statutory timeframe is included only for circumstances where the relevant DMCA procedure actually applies.
It should not be interpreted as a general guarantee that all disputed material submitted to Romiley Pets Pantry will automatically be restored within that period.
10. Repeat Infringement
Where website functionality allows third parties to submit, upload, or provide content, we may take reasonable action against persons who repeatedly infringe copyright or other intellectual property rights.
Depending on the circumstances, this may include:
-
Removing content
-
Restricting website functionality
-
Suspending access
-
Terminating an account
-
Refusing future content submissions
Any action will be considered in light of the circumstances and applicable law.
11. False or Misleading Copyright Claims
Please do not submit copyright complaints or counter-notifications that you know to be false, misleading, or materially inaccurate.
Copyright disputes can have significant legal consequences.
Under certain laws, including the US DMCA where applicable, knowingly making a material misrepresentation in an infringement notice or counter-notification may result in liability.
If you are uncertain whether particular material infringes your rights, you may wish to obtain independent legal advice before submitting a formal legal notice.
12. Copyright Exceptions and Lawful Uses
Not every use of copyrighted material constitutes copyright infringement.
Applicable law may permit certain uses without the express permission of the copyright owner.
Depending on the jurisdiction and circumstances, these may include specific copyright exceptions, limitations, licensed uses, or other lawful uses.
We may therefore consider relevant exceptions and legal permissions when reviewing a copyright complaint.
13. Third-Party Platforms and Service Providers
Some elements of our website may be provided through independent third-party platforms, hosting providers, payment services, e-commerce providers, social networks, or other technology services.
Those providers may operate their own copyright reporting and takedown procedures.
In some situations, a copyright complaint may need to be sent directly to the relevant third-party service provider.
If a third party hosts or controls the disputed material, we may direct you to the appropriate provider where reasonably possible.
14. Product and Manufacturer Content
As a pet retail business, some product information, packaging images, brand names, trade marks, descriptions, or promotional materials displayed on our website may originate from manufacturers, distributors, suppliers, or other authorised sources.
Ownership of such intellectual property does not automatically transfer to Romiley Pets Pantry merely because it appears on our website.
If you believe manufacturer or supplier content displayed by us infringes your copyright, please contact us using the procedure described in this policy.
15. Intellectual Property Belonging to Romiley Pets Pantry
Original material created for Romiley Pets Pantry, including eligible website text, photographs, graphics, branding, logos, and other original content, may be protected by copyright, trade mark, or other intellectual property law.
Unless applicable law permits otherwise, our protected material must not be copied, republished, distributed, commercially exploited, or presented as another party's work without appropriate permission.
Further information about permitted use of our website is provided in our Terms of Service.
16. No Determination of Legal Ownership
Our review of a copyright complaint is an administrative measure intended to help manage content displayed through our website.
A decision by Romiley Pets Pantry to remove, retain, restrict, or restore material does not constitute a court judgment or formal legal determination concerning:
-
Copyright ownership
-
Copyright infringement
-
Licensing rights
-
Damages
-
Liability
-
Any other legal right
Parties remain responsible for resolving legal disputes through appropriate legal processes where necessary.
