2. Scope of These Terms
These Terms of Sale primarily apply to purchases by individual consumers for personal or household purposes.
Where products are purchased wholly or mainly for business, trade, craft, or professional purposes, different legal rules may apply.
If you wish to place a commercial, wholesale, or unusually large order, please contact us before purchasing so that any applicable arrangements can be confirmed.
3. Product Listings
Products displayed on our website are invitations for customers to submit an order.
Displaying a product does not by itself mean that we are legally required to accept an order for that product.
All products are subject to:
-
Availability
-
Applicable purchasing restrictions
-
Successful payment authorisation
-
Acceptance of your order
Adding a product to your basket does not reserve that product.
4. Product Information
We take reasonable care to ensure that product descriptions, photographs, specifications, quantities, prices, and other information are accurate.
However, minor differences may occasionally occur.
For example:
-
Packaging may differ from website photographs
-
Manufacturers may change packaging or product design
-
Colours may appear differently depending on your screen
-
Product formulations or ingredients may be updated by manufacturers
-
Sizes, weights, or quantities may occasionally be revised
-
Product photographs may contain display items not included with the product
Where a change materially affects the product you ordered, we will handle the matter appropriately and in accordance with applicable consumer law.
5. Pet Food, Treats and Other Pet Products
Certain product information displayed on our website may be supplied by manufacturers, distributors, or other suppliers.
Manufacturers may change information relating to:
-
Ingredients
-
Nutritional content
-
Allergens
-
Feeding instructions
-
Formulations
-
Packaging
-
Warnings
-
Storage requirements
You should always check the physical product packaging before giving a food, treat, supplement, or similar product to your pet.
If your pet has allergies, food sensitivities, a medical condition, or special dietary requirements, please seek appropriate professional veterinary advice where necessary.
Information provided through our website is not intended to replace advice from a qualified veterinary professional.
6. Product Availability
Although we aim to maintain accurate stock information, availability may occasionally change before an order is fulfilled.
If an ordered product becomes unavailable, we may:
-
Contact you about the unavailable item
-
Offer an appropriate alternative where you agree
-
Cancel the affected product
-
Cancel the affected order where necessary
If we cannot supply a product for which payment has already been taken, the appropriate amount will be refunded.
We will not substitute a materially different product without your agreement.
7. How to Place an Order
To place an online order, you will normally need to:
-
Select the products you wish to purchase
-
Add them to your basket
-
Review the contents of your basket
-
Provide the requested customer and delivery information
-
Select an available delivery service
-
Select an available payment method
-
Review the total price and applicable charges
-
Submit the order using the checkout process
You are responsible for checking that the information supplied is accurate before submitting your order.
Where possible, our checkout process will allow you to identify and correct errors before completing the purchase.
8. Your Offer to Purchase
Submitting an order constitutes an offer by you to purchase the products listed in the order on the terms presented to you during checkout.
An automated email confirming that we have received your order is generally an order acknowledgement.
An acknowledgement does not necessarily mean that we have accepted your order.
9. When a Contract Is Formed
Unless we expressly tell you otherwise during checkout, a legally binding sales contract will normally be formed when we accept your order.
Acceptance may occur when:
-
We send an express order-acceptance confirmation; or
-
We dispatch the relevant products
depending on the ordering process used.
If an order contains multiple products that are dispatched separately, a separate contract may be formed for each dispatched product where appropriate.
10. When We May Decline an Order
Before an order has been accepted, we may reasonably decline it where necessary.
Examples include where:
-
A product is unavailable
-
Payment cannot be authorised
-
Delivery to the requested location is unavailable
-
We reasonably suspect fraudulent or unauthorised activity
-
An obvious pricing or product-information error has occurred
-
A purchasing restriction applies
-
The quantity requested cannot reasonably be supplied
-
We are legally prohibited from completing the transaction
Where payment has already been collected for an order that we decline or lawfully cancel, the appropriate amount will be refunded.
11. Prices
Unless clearly stated otherwise, all prices are displayed in:
British Pounds Sterling (GBP / £)
The price payable will normally be the price shown when your order is submitted.
Before checkout is completed, we aim to make clear:
-
The product price
-
Applicable delivery charges
-
Any applicable discounts
-
Any other mandatory charges
Where VAT applies, prices and transaction documents will be handled in accordance with applicable UK tax requirements.
12. Pricing Errors
We take reasonable care when displaying prices, but genuine mistakes can occasionally occur.
If we discover an obvious pricing error before accepting your order, we may:
-
Correct the error
-
Inform you of the correct price
-
Give you the opportunity to submit a new order where appropriate
-
Decline the affected order
If a material pricing error is discovered after an order has been submitted, we will handle the matter fairly and in accordance with applicable law.
We will not use this provision to arbitrarily change an agreed price after a valid contract has been formed.
13. Promotions and Discounts
From time to time, we may make promotions, offers, or discount codes available.
Individual promotions may have additional conditions relating to:
-
Eligibility
-
Duration
-
Participating products
-
Minimum order values
-
Maximum discounts
-
Product availability
-
Combining multiple offers
Important conditions will be communicated with the relevant promotion.
We aim to present promotions and price reductions clearly and transparently.
14. Payment Methods
Depending on availability and eligibility during checkout, we may accept:
-
American Express
-
Apple Pay
-
Diners Club
-
Discover
-
Google Pay
-
Klarna
-
Maestro
-
Mastercard
-
Shop Pay
-
UnionPay
-
Visa
Only the payment methods displayed as available during checkout can be selected for the relevant transaction.
15. Payment Processing
Payments are processed using third-party payment services available through our checkout system.
Depending on the payment method, your payment provider may perform:
-
Payment authorisation
-
Security verification
-
Fraud-prevention checks
-
Customer authentication
-
Transaction processing
Romiley Pets Pantry does not intentionally store complete payment-card details on its own systems.
Additional information is available in our Payment & Billing Policy and Billing Terms & Conditions.
16. Klarna
Where Klarna is offered at checkout, availability is subject to Klarna's own eligibility requirements and applicable terms.
Klarna may independently determine whether a payment option is available to you.
Any payment schedule, financing arrangement, or payment obligation associated with a Klarna service is also subject to the information and terms provided by Klarna.
Romiley Pets Pantry does not control Klarna's independent eligibility or approval decisions.
17. Payment Authorisation
Your order may not be processed or dispatched until the required payment has been successfully authorised.
If a payment fails, we may ask you to use another available payment method.
We may also reasonably delay an order while investigating suspected fraud or an unauthorised transaction.
18. Delivery Area
Unless otherwise expressly stated, we currently deliver within the United Kingdom.
International shipping is not currently offered unless specifically made available or agreed.
19. Order Processing
Orders are normally processed within:
1–3 business days after payment confirmation
Business days for processing purposes are Monday to Friday, excluding UK bank and public holidays.
Orders placed during weekends or public holidays will normally begin processing on the next working day.
20. Delivery Options
Our current general delivery options for eligible UK orders are:
Economy Shipping
Estimated transit time after dispatch: 5–8 business days
Cost: Free
Standard Shipping
Estimated transit time after dispatch: 3–4 business days
Cost: £15 GBP
Available delivery options may vary depending on the product, address, parcel size, or other delivery requirements.
The delivery options and applicable charges available for your order will be shown during checkout.
21. Delivery Time
Delivery estimates normally begin when an order is dispatched rather than when it is submitted.
Unless a different delivery period has been agreed, we will deliver goods in accordance with applicable UK consumer law.
Delivery estimates may be affected by circumstances such as:
-
Severe weather
-
Courier disruption
-
Public holidays
-
Seasonal demand
-
Transport disruption
-
Events outside our reasonable control
A delay caused by such circumstances does not remove any statutory delivery right you may have.
22. Risk During Delivery
Where we arrange delivery, goods generally remain at our risk until they come into the physical possession of:
-
You; or
-
Another person identified by you to receive the goods
An exception may apply if you independently arrange your own carrier and that carrier was not offered by us.
Nothing in these Terms transfers delivery risk to you earlier than permitted under applicable consumer law.
23. Incorrect Delivery Information
You are responsible for providing accurate and complete delivery information.
If you discover an error after placing an order, please contact us immediately.
If the order has not yet been dispatched, we will make reasonable efforts to update the address.
Once the parcel has entered the delivery network, an address change may not be possible.
Where an order is returned because incorrect information was supplied by the customer, reasonable additional delivery costs may apply where legally permitted.
24. Lost or Damaged Deliveries
If a parcel sent through delivery arrangements provided by us is lost or damaged before responsibility for the goods passes to you, please contact us.
We may investigate the matter with the delivery provider.
Where appropriate, we will provide a remedy such as:
-
Replacement
-
Refund
-
Another remedy required by law
Your legal rights are against us as the seller where applicable and are not removed simply because a third-party courier was used.
25. Your Right to Cancel an Online Purchase
For most eligible goods purchased online, consumers generally have a statutory right to change their mind.
Where this right applies, you normally have 14 days after receiving the goods to tell us that you wish to cancel.
After notifying us, you generally have a further 14 days to return the goods.
You do not need to give a reason for exercising the statutory cancellation right.
Our separate voluntary 30-day return policy may provide additional flexibility for eligible products.
26. Cancellation Exceptions
The statutory change-of-mind cancellation right does not apply to every type of product.
Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, exceptions may include:
-
Personalised or custom-made products
-
Goods that deteriorate or expire rapidly
-
Certain sealed products that cannot be returned for health or hygiene reasons once unsealed
-
Other categories excluded by applicable consumer legislation
For a pet retailer, this may be relevant to certain opened:
-
Pet foods
-
Treats
-
Hygiene products
-
Grooming or healthcare products
where the relevant legal conditions for an exception are satisfied.
These exceptions do not remove your rights where products are faulty, damaged, incorrectly supplied, or not as described.
27. Returning Goods After Cancellation
If you exercise a statutory cancellation right, you must return the relevant goods within the applicable return period.
For ordinary change-of-mind returns, you will generally be responsible for the direct cost of returning goods where we have informed you of that responsibility as required by law.
Please take reasonable care of products while they are in your possession.
You may inspect goods in a manner similar to how you could reasonably inspect them in a physical shop.
Where legally permitted, a deduction may be made if the value of returned goods has been reduced because of handling beyond what was necessary to establish their nature, characteristics, and functioning.
28. Refunds Following Statutory Cancellation
Where a valid statutory cancellation right is exercised, we will provide the refund required by applicable law.
This will normally include:
-
The price paid for the cancelled goods; and
-
The cost of our least expensive standard delivery option where the law requires the original delivery charge to be refunded
If you selected a more expensive delivery service, such as an upgraded or premium option, we are not normally required to refund the amount above the standard delivery cost.
Refunds will normally be made using the original payment method unless otherwise agreed or legally required.
29. Our Voluntary 30-Day Return Policy
In addition to statutory rights, we currently offer a 30-day voluntary return period for eligible products.
Under this policy, a return should be requested within 30 days of receiving the product.
Products returned under our voluntary change-of-mind policy should generally be:
-
Unused
-
Complete
-
In resaleable condition
-
Returned with original packaging where reasonably possible
-
Accompanied by sufficient proof of purchase
Full conditions and exclusions are explained in our Returns & Refund Policy.
Our voluntary policy does not replace your statutory rights.
30. Faulty, Damaged or Misdescribed Goods
Goods supplied by Romiley Pets Pantry must comply with applicable UK consumer law.
Among other requirements, consumer goods must generally be:
-
Of satisfactory quality
-
Fit for their intended purpose where applicable
-
As described
If a product does not meet the applicable legal requirements, you may have rights to a:
-
Refund
-
Repair
-
Replacement
-
Price reduction
-
Final rejection of the goods
depending on the circumstances and the remedy available under the law.
31. Short-Term Right to Reject Faulty Goods
Under UK consumer law, consumers normally have a 30-day short-term right to reject qualifying faulty goods and request a refund.
The precise period and remedy can depend on the product and circumstances.
For certain goods with a naturally shorter expected life, including some highly perishable products, a shorter period may apply where provided by law.
This statutory right is separate from our voluntary 30-day change-of-mind return policy.
32. Repairs and Replacements
Where the short-term right to reject is no longer available or where you choose another remedy, you may have a right to request a repair or replacement.
The appropriate remedy will depend on factors including:
-
The nature of the fault
-
The product involved
-
Whether repair or replacement is possible
-
Whether the remedy would be disproportionate
-
Applicable statutory requirements
Any statutory repair or replacement will be provided in accordance with consumer law.
33. Sale and Discounted Products
Products purchased during a sale, promotion, clearance event, or at a discounted price retain the same statutory rights regarding faults, quality, fitness for purpose, and description as products purchased at full price.
A promotional or discounted price does not remove statutory consumer protections.
If a product was sold with a specific fault clearly disclosed before purchase, your rights in relation to that disclosed fault may differ.
34. Proof of Purchase
When processing certain return, refund, repair, or replacement requests, we may ask for reasonable proof that the product was purchased from Romiley Pets Pantry.
Suitable proof may include:
-
Order confirmation
-
Receipt
-
Transaction record
-
Bank or payment statement
-
Other reasonable evidence of purchase
35. Product Misuse and Customer Damage
Statutory remedies do not normally apply to faults caused solely by:
-
Accidental damage after responsibility has passed to you
-
Misuse
-
Failure to follow clear product instructions
-
Improper storage
-
Unauthorised alteration
-
Normal wear and tear
This provision does not affect liability for a fault or legal non-conformity that existed when the goods were supplied.
36. Product Safety
Customers should use products in accordance with:
-
Manufacturer instructions
-
Warning labels
-
Storage instructions
-
Age, size, weight, or species recommendations where applicable
If you become aware of a potential safety problem involving a product purchased from us, please stop using the product where appropriate and contact us promptly.
Nothing in this section limits any responsibility imposed on us by product-safety or consumer-protection law.
37. Recalls
If a manufacturer, supplier, regulatory authority, or Romiley Pets Pantry identifies a product-safety issue, a product recall or safety notice may be issued.
Where appropriate, we may contact affected customers using available order information.
Customers should follow any instructions provided in an official recall or safety notice.
A recall does not reduce any statutory remedy available to you.
38. Liability
We do not exclude or restrict liability where doing so would be unlawful.
In particular, nothing in these Terms excludes or restricts liability that cannot legally be excluded, including liability where applicable for:
-
Death or personal injury caused by negligence
-
Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
-
Breach of statutory consumer rights
-
Goods that are not legally ours to sell
-
Other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded
Where we breach a contract with a consumer, our responsibility will be determined in accordance with applicable law.
39. Events Outside Our Reasonable Control
We may occasionally be delayed by events outside our reasonable control, such as:
-
Severe weather
-
Major courier disruption
-
Natural disasters
-
Major transport disruption
-
Widespread network or telecommunications failure
-
Government restrictions
-
Other comparable events
We will take reasonable steps to minimise disruption where possible.
This section does not remove any statutory right to cancel, receive a refund, or obtain another remedy where applicable.
40. Personal Information
Personal information collected in connection with an order will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
This may include information required to:
-
Process orders
-
Take payments
-
Arrange delivery
-
Provide refunds
-
Prevent fraud
-
Respond to customer enquiries
-
Meet legal and accounting obligations
41. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms of Sale from time to time.
Changes may be made to reflect:
-
Changes to our business
-
Changes to our ordering process
-
New payment or delivery arrangements
-
Changes to applicable law
-
Updated regulatory requirements
The Terms that apply to an order will generally be those made available when that order is placed and accepted.
We will not rely on later changes to retrospectively impose materially less favourable terms on an existing accepted order unless such a change is required or permitted by law.
42. If Part of These Terms Is Unenforceable
If a court or other competent authority determines that part of these Terms is unlawful, invalid, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply to the extent legally possible.
43. No Waiver of Rights
If either party does not immediately exercise a contractual right, that does not necessarily mean the right has been waived.
Nothing in this provision restricts a consumer's statutory rights.
44. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms of Sale and contracts entered into under them are governed by the laws of England and Wales, subject to mandatory consumer protections.
If you live in England or Wales, disputes may generally be brought before the courts of England and Wales.
If you are a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, nothing in these Terms is intended to remove any mandatory right you may have to bring proceedings in the courts applicable where you live.
45. Complaints
If you are dissatisfied with a product, order, delivery, payment, refund, or other aspect of a purchase, please contact us so that we can investigate.
Please provide, where applicable:
-
Your name
-
Order number
-
Description of the issue
-
Details of the affected product
-
Photographs where useful
We will aim to review complaints reasonably and fairly.
